The past few months have kept us busier than ever. Every week we’ve met new families, created unique farewells, and faced fresh challenges — and we’ve embraced every single one. Each person we meet has their own story, and we take pride in making sure every goodbye is personal, meaningful, and handled with the care it deserves.
At our core, we’re more than funeral directors, we are dedicated to care, commitment and community. We are a part of the local community. We know the families we serve, we understand their wishes, and we walk beside them through one of life’s most difficult times. That’s what being a truly independent funeral director means to us.
With just two full-time directors, Rod and Nicky, and a close team of eight casual staff, we keep things personal and hands-on. Every member of our team plays an active role, whether it’s supporting a family on the day of a funeral, preparing everything behind the scenes, or making sure every detail runs exactly as planned. We don’t believe in “standard” funerals — we believe in doing whatever it takes to make each one right.
Direct Cremation to Full Traditional Services
In recent weeks, we’ve arranged everything from quiet direct cremations to full traditional services, as well as vibrant celebrations of life at Mendip Crematorium. We’ve helped families plan local burials, supported other funeral directors who needed an extra hand, and even arranged for ashes to be interred hundreds of miles away — working closely with trusted partners to ensure everything went perfectly.
We also recently completed the installation of a gravestone for a family we supported three years ago, through our local stonemason Adams of Cheddar. It’s always special to help families continue a loved one’s story long after the funeral day itself.
The variety of what we do is what makes our work so rewarding. One day we’re coordinating music, flowers, and readings for a large service; the next, we’re helping someone plan a simple, private farewell. Whatever the circumstances, our focus never changes — we bring compassion, reassurance, and care to every family we meet.
Independent and Committed
Families often tell us how much it means to have someone they can rely on, and that trust is what drives us. We’re there to listen, to organise, to guide, and sometimes simply to sit quietly and help people find a moment of calm. Those small acts of care are what matter most.
Looking ahead, we’ll continue to serve this community with the same commitment and heart that define us. We’re proud to be independent — not part of a chain, but a small local team that takes every call personally, gives every family our full attention, and treats every farewell with dignity and respect.
Because for us, this isn’t just work. It’s an honour — and it’s a privilege we never take for granted.
