When you are ready, contact the funeral director you would like to help you. We will arrange for the person who has died to be brought into our care and will explain what happens next. If you would like to visit them in our Chapel of Rest, this can usually be arranged before the funeral.
If the death is expected and the coroner is not involved, the doctor who cared for your loved one will usually issue the medical certificate. This document is needed before the death can be registered. We will guide you through what is required and help make the process as clear as possible.
The death will need to be registered with the Registrar. Once this has been done, you will be given the paperwork needed for the funeral to take place. You can then pass this to us and we will deal with the necessary arrangements on your behalf.
We will talk with you about the type of funeral you would like, whether that is a simple cremation, a traditional service or something more personal. We can help arrange a celebrant, minister, priest or other person to lead the service, and will work with you to choose a date, location and style of funeral that feels right.
On the day of the funeral, our team will be there to make sure everything is handled calmly, professionally and with dignity. After a cremation, the ashes are usually available within a few days, and we will talk you through the options for their return or collection.
