The loss of a loved one is a difficult and confusing time. Here is our simple guide to what you need to do to organise the funeral.
Call a funeral director to request the deceased is brought into the care of the Funeral Service of your choice. (Families are able to visit their loved one if they wish, this is ideally just before the funeral date, in our Chapel of Rest.)
Make contact with the deceased’s doctors (if a coroner isn’t involved) and then collect the paperwork for the Registrar. Make an appointment to register the death, complete all paperwork with the Funeral Director and hand him or her the Cremation or Burial Form.
The Funeral Director processes the paperwork, and ensures that a celebrant, vicar, priest or non-religious person running the service of the funeral is booked.
When all this is done, the date is booked and delivery of service on the day is all handled by your chosen funeral director.
When the funeral is complete, if there is a cremation the funeral director will collect the ashes within a few days and deliver to the family.
